Hadith 10:1051
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Ibn ‘Uyaynah narrated to us, from ‘Amr ibn Aws, who says: A man from Thaqif informed me, saying: I heard ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab saying: "If I were able to make the waiting period (‘iddah) of the slave woman a menstrual cycle and a half, I would have done so." A man said to him: "If you had made it a month and a half." He remained silent.
حدثنا أبو بكر قال نا بن عيينة عن عمرو بن أوس يقول أخبرني رجل من ثقيف يقول سمعت عمر بن الخطاب يقول لو استطعت أن أجعل عدة الأمة حيضة ونصفا لفعلت فقال له رجل لو جعلتها شهرا ونصفا فسكت
