Hadith 10:1175
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Isma'il ibn 'Ayyash narrated to us, from 'Abdullah al-Kala'i, from Makhul, that Abu Bakr, 'Umar, 'Ali, Ibn Mas'ud, Abu al-Darda', 'Ubadah ibn al-Samit, and 'Abdullah ibn Qays al-Ash'ari used to say regarding a man who divorces his wife with one pronouncement or two: He is more entitled to her as long as she has not performed ghusl (ritual bath) from her third menstruation. He inherits from her and she inherits from him as long as she is in the waiting period ('iddah).
