Hadith 10:1185
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Abda narrated to us, from Sa’id, from Abu Ma’shar, from Ibrahim, that Abu Kanaf divorced his wife, then he traveled and took her back (reconciled with her), and he wrote to her regarding that and called witnesses to that. However, the letter did not reach her until the waiting period (iddah) had expired, so the woman married (someone else). He then rode to Umar and narrated the story to him. He (Umar) said: "You have more right to her, as long as he has not consummated the marriage with her."
حدثنا أبو بكر قال نا عبدة عن سعيد عن أبي معشر عن إبراهيم أن أبا كنف طلق امرأته ثم سافر وراجعها وكتب إليها بذلك واشهد على ذلك فلم يبلغها الكتاب حتى انقضت العدة فتزوجت المراة فركب إلى عمر فقص عليه القصة فقال أنت أحق بها ما لم يدخل بها
