Hadith 10:1275

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Ibn ‘Ulayyah narrated to us, from Ayyub, from Nafi’, from Sulayman ibn Yasar: That al-Ahwas, a man from the people of Syria, divorced his wife one pronouncement or two pronouncements, and he died while she was in the third menstrual period of blood. So that was raised to Mu’awiyah, and he asked Fadalah ibn ‘Ubayd and those who were there from the companions of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, about it, but no knowledge was found with them regarding it. So he sent it by a rider to Zayd ibn Thabit, and he said: "She does not inherit from him, and if she died, he would not inherit from her." He said: Ibn ‘Umar used to hold that view.

حدثنا أبو بكر قال نا بن علية عن أيوب عن نافع عن سليمان بن يسار أن الأحوص رجلا من أهل الشام طلق امرأته تطليقة أو تطليقتين فمات وهي في الحيضة الثالثة من الدم فرفع ذلك إلى معاوية فسأل عنها فضالة بن عبيد ومن هناك من أصحاب النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فلم يوجد عندهم فيها علم فبعث بها راكبا إلى زيد بن ثابت فقال لا ترثه وإن ماتت لم يرثها قال كان بن عمر يرى ذلك
