Hadith 10:1356
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Ali bin Mushir narrated to us, from Dawud, from al-Sha’bi, from Masruq, who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) forbade his *umm walad* (slave-concubine who bore him a child) and swore an oath not to approach her. Then Allah the Exalted revealed: "O Prophet, why do you forbid [yourself from] what Allah has made lawful for you, seeking the approval of your wives?" until the end of the verse. It was said to him: As for the prohibition, it is lawful; and as for the oath which he swore, Allah the Exalted has ordained the expiation of your oaths regarding the oath which he swore.
