Hadith 10:1399
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn Bishr narrated to us, he said: Sa'id ibn Abi 'Aruba narrated to us, from Qatada, from Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib, that 'Umar ibn al-Khattab divorced Umm 'Asim. Then he came to her while she was wearing [her clothes], and 'Asim was in her lap. He wanted to take him from her, so they pulled him between them until the boy cried. They went to Abu Bakr, and Abu Bakr said to him: "O 'Umar, her wiping, her lap, and her scent are better for him than you, until the boy grows up and chooses."
حدثنا أبو بكر قال نا محمد بن بشر قال نا سعيد بن أبي عروبة عن قتادة عن سعيد بن المسيب أن عمر بن الخطاب طلق أم عاصم ثم أتاها عليها وفي حجرها عاصم فاراد أن يأخذه منها فتجاذباه بينهما حتى بكى الغلام فانطلقا إلى أبي بكر فقال له أبو بكر يا عمر مسحها وحجرها وريحها خير له منك حتى يشب الصبي فيختار
