Hadith 10:1406
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi narrated to us, from Sufyan, from Hammad, he said: I heard him say: I said to Ibrahim, "What is *al-ila* (the vow of abstinence)?" He said: "That he swears not to speak to her, nor to have intercourse with her, nor to join his head with her head, and he intends to enrage her or to cause her harm."
