Hadith 10:1563
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Ibn Numayr narrated to us, from Hisham, from Hafsa, from Umm Atiyya, who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "A woman shall not observe mourning for a dead person for more than three days, except for a woman mourning for her husband, which is four months and ten days. She shall not wear dyed clothing, except for 'asb (garments dyed with yarn before weaving). She shall not apply kohl, and she shall not use perfume, except when she is at the end of her period of purity, using a small amount of Qust (costus) or Adhfar (a type of perfume)."
حدثنا أبو بكر قال نا بن نمير عن هشام عن حفصة عن أم عطية قالت قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم لا تحد على ميت فوق ثلاث إلا المرأة تحد على زوجها أربعة أشهر وعشرا ولا تلبس ثوبا مصبوغا إلا ثوب عصب ولا تكتحل ولا تطيب إلا عند أدنى طهرها بنبذة من قسط أو أظفار
