Hadith 10:1564
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us, from al-Taymi, from Abu Mijlaz, he said: Ibn Umar said: "The woman whose husband has died observes a waiting period of four months and ten [days]." A man said: "Indeed, this is a lot." Ibn Umar said: "They used to observe mourning in the Pre-Islamic Era (Jahiliyyah) for longer than this."
