Hadith 10:1565
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Ubaydah narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Layla, from Nafi’, from Safiyyah bint Abi Ubayd, that she informed him that she heard Umm Salamah, ‘Aishah, and Hafsah saying: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "It is not lawful for a woman who believes in Allah and the Last Day to observe mourning for a dead person for more than three days, except for her husband, for she shall observe mourning for him for four months and ten [days]."
حدثنا أبو بكر قال نا عبيدة عن بن أبي ليلى عن نافع عن صفية بنت أبي عبيد أنها أخبرته أنها سمعت أم سلمة وعائشة وحفصة يقلن قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم لا يحل لامرأة تؤمن بالله واليوم الآخر تحد على ميت فوق ثلاثة أيام إلا على بعلها فإنها تحد عليه أربعة أشهر وعشرا
