Hadith 10:363
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Ibn Abi ‘Adi narrated to us, from Bishr, he narrated to us that at that time ‘Umar ibn ‘Abd al-‘Aziz wrote regarding a man from Banu Tamim who placed the matter of his wife in her own hands: He said: If she returns the matter to him, then there is nothing [i.e., no divorce]. And if she divorces herself, then it is one [divorce], and he is more entitled to her [i.e., he can take her back during the waiting period].
حدثنا أبو بكر قال نا بن أبي عدي عن بشر حدثنا إذ ذاك أن عمر بن عبد العزيز كتب في رجل من بني تميم جعل أمر امرأته بيدها قال إن ردت الأمر عليه فلا شيء وإن طلقت نفسها فهي واحدة وهو أحق بها
