Hadith 10:369
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Hafs bin Ghiyath narrated to us, from al-Shaybani, from al-Sha’bi, he said: Abdullah said: "If a man gives his wife a choice, and she chooses herself, then it is one irrevocable (divorce). And if she chooses her husband, then it is nothing." Ali said: "If she chooses herself, then it is one irrevocable (divorce). And if she chooses her husband, then it is one (divorce), and he has more right to her."
حدثنا أبو بكر قال نا حفص بن غياث عن الشيباني عن الشعبي قال قال عبد الله إذا خير الرجل امرأته فاختارت نفسها فواحدة بائنة وإن اختارت زوجها فلا شيء قال علي إن اختارت نفسها فواحدة بائنة وإن اختارت زوجها فواحدة وهو أملك بها
