Hadith 10:478
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Ya'la narrated to us, from Isma'il, he said: 'Amir said: Some people claimed that 'Ali used to consider her forbidden until she married a husband other than him. By Allah, 'Ali never said that at all, and I am more knowledgeable about it than the one who said it. He only said: "I am not making her lawful, nor am I making her forbidden to him. If he wishes, let him proceed, and if he wishes, let him hold back."
حدثنا أبو بكر قال نا يعلى عن إسماعيل قال قال عامر زعم أناس أن عليا كان يجعلها حراما حتى تنكح زوجا غيره والله ما قالها علي قط ولأنا أعلم بها من الذي قالها إنما قال ما أنا بمحلها ولا بمحرمها عليه إن شاء فليتقدم وإن شاء فليتأخر
