Hadith 10:545
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Ali bin Hisham narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Layla, from al-Sha’bi, who said: A man from Hamdan gifted a slave girl to Ali. When she came to him, Ali asked her, "Are you free (unattached) or occupied?" She said, "Occupied, O Commander of the Faithful." He said, "Then stay away from her." And he sent for her husband and purchased her private parts (her marital rights) from him for four hundred and twenty.
حدثنا أبو بكر قال نا علي بن هشام عن بن أبي ليلى عن الشعبي قال أهدى رجل من همدان لعلي جارية فلما أتته سألها علي أفارغة أم مشغولة فقالت مشغولة يا أمير المؤمنين قال فاعتزلها وارسل إلى زوجها فاشترى بضعها منه بعشرين وأربعمائة
