Hadith 15:139
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Waki’ narrated to us, he said: Isma’il bin Abi Khalid narrated to us, from Qays bin Abi Hazim, he said: Utbah bin Farqad narrated to me, he said: I arrived to Umar, and he called for a bowl of nabidh (fermented drink) that had almost turned into vinegar. He said: "Drink." So I took it and drank it, and I could hardly swallow it. Then he took it and drank it. Then he said: "O Utbah, we drink this strong nabidh to cut the camel meat in our stomachs, so that it does not harm us."
حدثنا أبو بكر قال حدثنا وكيع قال حدثنا إسماعيل بن أبي خالد عن قيس بن أبي حازم قال حدثني عتبة بن فرقد قال قدمت على عمر فدعا بعس من نبيذ قد كاد يصير خلا فقال اشرب فأخذته فشربته فما كدت أن أسيغه ثم أخذه فشربه ثم قال يا عتبة إنا نشرب هذا النبيذ الشديد لنقطع به لحوم الإبل في بطوننا أن تؤذينا
