Hadith 15:18
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Ibn ‘Ulayyah narrated to us, from Abu Hayyan, from al-Sha’bi, from Ibn ‘Umar, who said: I heard ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab delivering a sermon on the pulpit of Medina, saying: "O people, indeed the prohibition of wine was revealed on the day it was revealed, and it is from five things: from grapes, dates, honey, wheat, and barley. And wine (khamr) is that which clouds (khamara) the intellect."
حدثنا أبو بكر قال حدثنا بن علية عن أبي حيان عن الشعبي عن بن عمر قال سمعت عمر بن الخطاب يخطب على منبر المدينة يقول يا أيها الناس ألا إنه نزل تحريم الخمر يوم نزل وهي من خمسة أشياء من العنب والتمر والعسل والحنطة والشعير والخمر ما خامر العقل
