Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Abu Usama narrated to us, he said: al-Thawri narrated to us, from Salamah ibn Kuhayl, from Dharr ibn Abd Allah, from Sa’id ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Abza, from his father, who said: I asked Ubayy ibn Ka’b about nabidh (fermented drink). He said: "Stick to water, stick to sawiq (barley porridge), stick to honey, stick to milk which you have been nourished with." He said: So I pressed him again, and he said: "Is it wine that you want?"
