Hadith 15:292
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Affan bin Muslim narrated to us, he said: Al-Muthanna bin Awf narrated to us, he said: Abu Abdullah al-Jasri narrated to us, from Ma'qil bin Yasar, that a man asked him about the drink. He said: "We were in Medina, and it had many dates, so the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, forbade us from *al-fadikh* (a drink made from unripe dates)." He said: A man came asking him about his mother, who had reached an age where she could not eat food, [asking] if he should give her *nabidh* (date-infused water) to drink. He said: I said to him, "O Ma'qil bin Yasar, what did you command him to do?" He said: "I commanded him not to give it to her."
حدثنا أبو بكر قال حدثنا عفان بن مسلم قال حدثنا المثنى بن عوف قال حدثنا أبو عبد الله الجسري عن معقل بن يسار أنه سأله الشراب فقال كنا بالمدينة وكانت كثيرة التمر فحرم علينا رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم الفضيخ قال جاء رجل يسأله عن أمه قد بلغت سنا لا تأكل الطعام يسقيها النبيذ قال قلت له يا معقل بن يسار ما أمرته به قال أمرته أن لا يسقيها
