Hadith 15:331
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Ghundar narrated to us, from Shu'bah, from Sa'd ibn Ibrahim, from his father, that he heard Uthman delivering a sermon. He mentioned wine and said: "It is the gathering place of evils," or "the mother of evils." Then he began to narrate about the Children of Israel and said: "A man was given a choice between killing a boy, erasing a scripture, or drinking wine. He chose the wine, and he did not depart until he had committed all of them."
حدثنا أبو بكر قال حدثنا غندر عن شعبة عن سعد بن إبراهيم عن أبيه أنه سمع عثمان يخطب فذكر الخمر فقال هي مجمع الخبائث أو أم الخبائث ثم أنشأ يحدث عن بني إسرائيل فقال إن رجلا خير بين أن يقتل صبيا أو يمحو كتابا أو يشرب خمرا فاختار الخمر فما برح حتى فعلهن كلهن
