Hadith 15:400
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Abd al-Rahim ibn Sulayman narrated to us, from Yazid ibn Abi Ziyad, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Layla, who said: Hudhayfah asked for water in al-Mada'in, so a *dihqan* (landowner/official) brought him a vessel of silver containing a drink. He (Hudhayfah) intended to strike his face with it. It was said to him, "Indeed, the *dihqans* honor the commanders with this." He said, "I had forbidden him, and I had established the proof against him, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade us from drinking from vessels of silver and gold."
حدثنا أبو بكر قال حدثنا عبد الرحيم بن سليمان عن يزيد بن أبي زياد عن عبد الرحمن بن أبي ليلى قال استسقى حذيفة بالمدائن فأتاه دهقان بإناء من فضة فيه شراب فأراد أن يضرب به وجهه فقيل له إن الدهاقين يكرمون الأمراء بهذا قال إني كنت نهيته واتخذت عليه الحجة أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم نهانا أن نشرب في آنية الفضة والذهب
