Hadith 15:54
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn Fudayl narrated to us, from ‘Ata’ ibn al-Sa’ib, from Ash’ath ibn ‘Umayr al-‘Abdi, from his father, who said: The delegation of ‘Abd al-Qays came to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. When they wanted to depart, they said, "You have memorized everything you heard from the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, so ask him about *nabidh* (fermented drink)." So they came to him and said, "O Messenger of Allah, we are in a land that is unhealthy; nothing suits us there except the drink." He said, "And what is your drink?" They said, "The *nabidh*." He said, "In what do you drink it?" They said, "In the *naqir* (hollowed-out log)." He said, "Do not drink from the *naqir*." He said: So they left him and said, "By Allah, our people will not agree with us on this." So they returned and asked him, and he said to them the same thing. Then they returned again, and he said to them, "Do not drink from the *naqir*, for a man among you might strike his cousin a blow from which he will remain lame until the Day of Resurrection." He said: So they laughed. He said, "What are you laughing at?" They said, "O Messenger of Allah, by the One who sent you with the truth, we have indeed drunk from a *naqir* of ours, and some of us stood up against others, and this one struck that one a blow from which he has been lame until the Day of Resurrection."
حدثنا أبو بكر قال حدثنا محمد بن فضيل عن عطاء بن السائب عن أشعث بن عمير العبدي عن أبيه قال أتى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم وفد عبد القيس فلما أرادوا الإنصراف قالوا قد حفظتم عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم كل شيء سمعتم منه فسلوه عن النبيذ فأتوه فقالوا يا رسول الله إنا بأرض وخمة لا يصلحنا فيها إلا الشراب قال فقال وما شرابكم قالوا النبيذ قال في أي شيء تشربونه قالوا في النقير قال فلا تشربوا في النقير قال فخرجوا من عنده فقالوا والله لا يصالحنا قومنا على هذا فرجعوا فسالوه فقال لهم مثل ذلك ثم عادوا فقال لهم لا تشربوا في النقير فيضرب منكم الرجل بن عمه ضربة لا يزال منها أعرج إلى يوم القيامة قال فضحكوا قال من أي شيء تضحكون قالوا يا رسول الله والذي بعثك بالحق لقد شربنا في نقير لنا فقام بعضنا إلى بعض فضرب هذا ضربة عرج منها إلى يوم القيامة
