Hadith 15:97
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Jarir narrated to us, from Mansur, from Abu Wa'il, who said: A man from the tribe complained of his stomach, so it was said to him: "You have the *sifr* (a type of ailment)." They prescribed sugar (or alcohol/intoxicant) for him. He sent to Abdullah to ask him about that. Abdullah said: "Indeed, Allah the Exalted has not placed your cure in that which He has forbidden for you."
حدثنا أبو بكر قال حدثنا جرير عن منصور عن أبي وائل قال اشتكى رجل من الحي بطنه فقيل له إن لك الصفر فنعتوا له السكر فأرسل إلى عبد الله يسأله عن ذلك فقال عبد الله إن الله تعالى لم يجعل شفاءكم فيما حرم عليكم
