Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 17:1044

Abu Khalid al-Ahmar narrated to us, from Yahya ibn Sa'id, from Muhammad ibn Yahya ibn Habban, who said: A man went out with Mu'adh, and he began not to see any harm on the road except that he removed it. When the man saw that, he began not to pass by anything except that he removed it. So he [Mu'adh] said to him, "What compelled you to do this?" He said, "That which I saw you doing." He said, "You have done right (or you have done well). Indeed, whoever removes harm from the road, a good deed is written for him; and whoever has a good deed written for him, he enters Paradise."
