Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 17:1060

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Waki’ narrated to us, from Ibn ‘Amr ibn ‘Alqama, from Ibn Abi Husayn, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Do not sever [ties with] one who used to maintain ties with your father, for that will extinguish your light. Indeed, your affection is the affection of your father."
