Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 17:1250

Ibn Numayr narrated to us, from Malik ibn Mighwal, from al-Sha’bi, who said: Al-Rabi’ ibn Khuthaym did not sit [in public gatherings] since he began wearing an izar (waist-wrapper). He said: "I fear that a man may be wronged and I do not aid him, or a man may fabricate a lie against another and I be compelled to testify regarding it, or I may not lower my gaze, or I may not guide [someone] to the path, or a burden may fall and I do not help carry it."
