Muhammad ibn Abd Allah al-Asadi narrated to us, from Sufyan, from Abd Allah ibn Uthman ibn Khuthaym, from Shahr, from Asma bint Yazid, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Lying is not appropriate except in three [cases]: a man speaking to his wife to please her, or reconciliation between people, or lying in war."
