Hadith 17:1347
Abu Usama narrated to us, from Shu'bah, from Sa'id ibn Abi Burdah, from his father, from his grandfather, from the Prophet (peace be upon him), who said: "Upon every Muslim is a charity." It was said: "Have you seen if he does not find [anything]?" He said: "He should work with his hands, so he benefits himself and gives charity." It was said: "Have you seen if he is not able?" He said: "He should help the needy, the distressed." It was said: "Have you seen if he is not able?" He said: "He should enjoin the good." It was said: "Have you seen if he does not do [that]?" He said: "He should withhold from evil, for it is a charity for him."
