Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 17:1348

Abu Usama narrated to us, he said: Sufyan narrated to us, from Dinar al-Tammar, from ‘Awn ibn ‘Abd Allah, he said: ‘Abd Allah was walking with his companions one day, and the strap of his sandal broke, so he said: "To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return" (istaraja‘a). Some of the people said to him: "O Abu ‘Abd al-Rahman, do you say 'To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return' over a strap?" He said: "It is not that straps are many, but it is a calamity."
