Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 17:1407

Ibn Mahdi narrated to us, from Ibrahim bin Tahman, from the one who narrated to him, from Jabir bin Abdullah: That he used to dislike that a man should place a *barayah* (a wooden collar or yoke) upon the neck of his slave.
