Hadith 17:1414

Ibn Numayr narrated to us, from Uthman ibn Hakim, who said: Abdullah ibn Uthman, a man from Banu Salul, informed me that his people invited him to be their leader (to recognize him as such), and they chose him for that, but he refused and abstained. So he went to Abdullah ibn Amr and consulted him and asked for his command. He said: "Do not be a leader over them." He came to them the next morning, but they did not cease until they compelled him to accept it. So he went to Abdullah ibn Amr and informed him that he had been forced. He said: "Its beginning is intercession (or a favor), its middle is betrayal, and its end is the punishment of the Fire."
