Hadith 17:297
Waki’ narrated to us, from al-A’mash, from Abu Wa’il, from ‘Abdullah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "Beware of lying, for lying leads to wickedness, and wickedness leads to the Fire. A man continues to lie and seeks out lying until he is recorded with Allah as a liar. And adhere to truthfulness, for truthfulness is righteousness, and righteousness leads to Paradise. A man continues to be truthful and seeks out truthfulness until he is recorded with Allah as a truthful person (siddiq)."
حدثنا وكيع عن الأعمش عن أبي وائل عن عبد الله قال قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم إياكم والكذب فإن الكذب يهدي إلى الفجور وإن الفجور يهدي إلى النار وإن الرجل ليكذب ويتحرى الكذب حتى يكتب عند الله كذابا وعليكم بالصدق فإن الصدق بر والبر يهدي إلى الجنة وإن الرجل ليصدق ويتحرى الصدق حتى يكتب عند الله صديقا
