Hadith 17:309
Waki’ narrated to us, from al-A’mash, from ‘Umarah, from ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Yazid, who said: ‘Abdullah said: "Test the hypocrite by three things: if he speaks, he lies; if he promises, he breaks it; and if he is entrusted, he betrays." He said: And he recited this verse: "And among them are those who made a covenant with Allah, [saying], 'If He should give us from His bounty...'" up to His saying: "...hypocrisy in their hearts..." up to His saying: "...for what they lied."
حدثنا وكيع عن الأعمش عن عمارة عن عبد الرحمن بن يزيد قال قال عبد الله اعتبروا المنافق بثلاث إذا حدث كذب وإذا وعد أخلف وإذا أؤتمن خان قال وتلا هذه الآية @QB@ ومنهم من عاهد الله لئن آتانا من فضله @QE@ إلى قوله @QB@ نفاقا في قلوبهم @QE@ إلى قوله @QB@ بما كانوا يكذبون @QE@ 1
