Hadith 17:372
'Abd al-Rahim ibn Sulayman narrated to us, from Wasil ibn al-Sa'ib, from Abu Sura, from Abu Ayyub al-Ansari, who said: I said, "O Messenger of Allah, this is the greeting (salam), so what is the seeking of permission (isti'nas)?" He said, "The man speaks with a tasbih (saying Subhan Allah), a takbir (saying Allahu Akbar), and a tahmid (saying Alhamdulillah), and he clears his throat, and he notifies the people of the house."
حدثنا عبد الرحيم بن سليمان عن واصل بن السائب عن أبي سورة عن أبي أيوب الأنصاري قال قلت يا رسول الله هذا السلام فما الاستئناس قال يتكلم الرجل بتسبيحة وتكبيرة وتحميدة ويتنحنح ويؤذن أهل البيت
