Hadith 17:563
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from Ibrahim, from Alqama, who said: I came with Abdullah from al-Silhin, and some *dahaqin* (landowners/chiefs) from the people of al-Hira accompanied him. When they entered Kufa, they took a path other than their own path. He turned toward them and saw that they had deviated, so he followed them with the greeting of peace (*salam*). I said: "Do you greet these disbelievers with peace?" He said: "Yes, they accompanied me, and companionship has a right."
حدثنا أبو بكر قال حدثنا أبو معاوية عن الأعمش عن إبراهيم عن علقمة قال أقبلت مع عبد الله من السيلحين فصحبه دهاقين من أهل الحيرة فلما دخلوا الكوفة أخذوا في طريقهم غير طريقهم فالتفت إليهم فرآهم قد عدلوا فأتبعهم السلام فقلت أتسلم على هؤلاء الكفار فقال نعم صحبوني وللصحبة حق
