Hadith 17:588
Ibn ‘Ulayyah narrated to us, from Yunus, who said: A man wrote a letter from al-Hasan to Salih ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman. He wrote: "In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. From al-Hasan to Salih." The man said: "O Abu Sa‘id, if only you had begun with it [i.e., the name of Allah]." So he began with it.
حدثنا بن علية عن يونس قال كتب رجل كتابا من الحسن إلى صالح بن عبد الرحمن فكتب بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم من الحسن إلى صالح فقال الرجل يا أبا سعيد لو بدأت به فبدأ به
