Hadith 17:627
Ibn ‘Uyaynah narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn al-Munkadir, who heard Jabir saying: A boy was born to a man among us. He said: So he named him al-Qasim. He said: We said, "We will not call him by the kunya Abu al-Qasim, and we will not please your eyes with that." So he came to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and mentioned that to him. He said: "Name your son ‘Abd al-Rahman."
حدثنا بن عيينة عن محمد بن المنكدر سمع جابرا يقول ولد لرجل منا غلام قال فسماه القاسم قال فقلنا لا نكنيه أبا القاسم لا ننعمه عينا فأتى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فذكر له ذلك فقال سم ابنك عبد الرحمن
