Sufyan ibn 'Uyaynah narrated to us, from Ibrahim ibn Maysarah, from Ibn al-Sharid or Ya'qub ibn 'Asim—one of them heard al-Sharid say: The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, let me ride behind him. He said, "Do you have any of the poetry of Umayyah ibn Abi al-Salt with you?" I said, "Yes." He said, "Go on." So I recited a verse to him. He said, "Go on." He did not cease saying "Go on" until I had recited one hundred verses to him.
