Hadith 17:745
Ibn Fudayl narrated to us, from ‘Asim, who said: We never heard al-Hasan recite a line of poetry at all, except for this line: "He who dies and finds rest is not the dead; rather, the dead is the dead among the living." Then he said: "And by Allah, he spoke the truth. For indeed, a person may be alive while his heart is dead."
حدثنا بن فضيل عن عاصم قال ما سمعنا الحسن يتمثل ببيت من شعر قط إلا هذا البيت % ليس من مات فاستراح بميت % إنما الميت ميت الأحياء % ثم قال وصدق والله إنه ليكون حيا وهو ميت القلب
