Hadith 17:752
Abu Usama narrated to us, he said: Mujalid narrated to us, from Amir, that Harithah ibn Badr al-Taymi, from the people of Basra, said: "Oh, convey to Hamdan, whenever I meet them, a greeting; may no enemy who hears it be safe. By the life of my God, Hamdan fears God, and their orator judges by the Book. My head turns gray and my burdens are lightened, while the thunders of death and its lightnings are around us. We find death sweet to our souls, and we leave another [death] bitter, which we do not taste." Amir said: Abdullah ibn Ja'far narrated this hadith, and he said: "We were more deserving of these verses than Hamdan."
حدثنا أبو أسامة قال حدثنا مجالد عن عامر أن حارثة بن بدر التيمي من أهل البصرة قال % ألا أبلغن همدان ما لقيتها % سلام فلا يسلم عدو يعيها % % لعمر إلهي إن همدان تتقي الا % له ويقضي بالكتاب خطيبها % % تشيب رأسي واستخف حموله % رعود المنايا حولنا وبروقها % % وإنا لتستحلي المنايا نفوسنا % ونترك أخرى مرة ما نذوقها قال عامر فحدث بهذا الحديث عبد الله بن جعفر قال كنا نحن أحق بهذه الأبيات من همذان
