Hadith 17:797
Ibn ‘Ulayyah narrated to us, from Habib ibn al-Shahid, from ‘Amr ibn Sa‘id, who said: Humayd ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman said: "I would not love to have, in exchange for my share of *al-ma‘arid* (evasive speech/innuendo), the equivalent of my family and my wealth. And perhaps you think that I do not love to have the equivalent of my family and my wealth; rather, I do wish that I had the equivalent of my family and my wealth."
حدثنا أبن علية عن حبيب بن شهيد عن عمرو بن سعيد قال قال حميد بن عبد الرحمن قال ما أحب أن لي بنصيبي من المعاريض مثل أهلي ومالي ولعلكم تروون أني لا أحب أن لي مثل أهلي ومالي ووددت أن لي مثل أهلي ومالي
