Hadith 17:805
Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us, he said: Sa'id ibn Abi 'Aruba narrated to us, from 'Amr ibn Kharijah: That the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, addressed them while he was upon his riding beast, and his riding beast was rubbing its neck against the ground, and its saliva was flowing between his shoulders. He said: "Whoever claims [lineage] to other than his father, or allies himself with other than his masters, then upon him is the curse of Allah; neither a *sarf* (obligatory deed) nor an *adl* (supererogatory deed) will be accepted from him," or he said: "neither an *adl* nor a *sarf*."
