Hadith 17:825
Surayj ibn al-Nu‘man narrated to us, he said: Fulayh narrated to us, from Abu Tuwala ‘Abd Allah ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Ma‘mar, from Sa‘id ibn Yasar, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "Whoever learns knowledge by which the Face of Allah is sought, but he does not learn it except to attain by it a worldly gain, he will not find the fragrance of Paradise on the Day of Resurrection," meaning its scent.
حدثنا سريج بن النعمان قال حدثنا فليح عن أبي طوالة عبد الله بن عبد الرحمن بن معمر عن سعيد بن يسار عن أبي هريرة قال قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم من تعلم علما مما يبتغي به وجه الله لا يتعلمه إلا ليصيب به عرضا من الدنيا لم يجد عرف الجنة يوم القيامة يعني ريحها
