Ibn ‘Uyaynah narrated to us, from al-Zuhri, from Abu Salamah ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman, that ‘Abd al-Rahman visited Abu al-Raddad and said: "The best of them and the most connecting of them is Abu Muhammad," meaning Ibn ‘Awn. "I heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say: 'Allah said: I am Allah, and I am the Rahman (the Most Merciful). It is the rahim (womb/kinship), I derived for it a name from My name. So whoever connects it, I connect him, and whoever severs it, I sever him.'"
