Hadith 17:889
Mu'awiyah ibn Hisham narrated to us, he said: Sufyan narrated to us, from Sa'id al-Jurayri, from Abu 'Uthman, who said: A governor of 'Umar ibn al-Khattab wrote to him: "There are people here who gather and pray for the Muslims and for the leader." 'Umar wrote back to him: "Come, and bring them with you." So he came. 'Umar said to the doorkeeper: "Prepare a whip for me." When they entered upon 'Umar, he turned to their leader and struck him with the whip. He said: "O 'Umar, we are not those whom you mean; those are people who come from the direction of the East."
حدثنا معاوية بن هشام قال حدثنا سفيان عن سعيد الجريري عن أبي عثمان قال كتب عامل لعمر بن الخطاب إليه أن ها هنا قوما يجتمعون فيدعون للمسلمين وللأمير فكتب إليه عمر أقبل وأقبل بهم معك فأقبل وقال عمر للبواب أعد لي سوطا فلما دخلوا على عمر أقبل على أميرهم ضربا بالسوط فقال يا عمر إنا لسنا أولئك الذين يعني أولئك قوم ياتون من قبل المشرق
