Hadith 17:922
Hafs narrated to us, from 'Asim, from al-Sha'bi, who said: A hadith was narrated, and it was said to him, "Do you attribute this (to the Prophet)?" He said, "To keep it below (that level) is more beloved to us. If there were a mistake in that, or an addition, or a subtraction, it would be more beloved to us."
حدثنا حفص عن عاصم عن الشعبي قال حدث بحديث فقيل له أترفع هذا فقال دونه أحب إلينا إن كان خطأ في ذلك أو زيادة أو نقصان كان أحب إلينا
