Hadith 17:932
Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Hafs narrated to us, from al-A’mash, from Talha, from Hudhayl, who said: A man came and stood at the door of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, seeking permission. He stood at the door, so the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "Like this, away from you [or like this]," for indeed, seeking permission is [only] because of looking.
حدثنا أبو بكر قال حدثنا حفص عن الأعمش عن طلحة عن هزيل قال جاء رجل فوقف على باب النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم يستأذن فقام على الباب فقال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم هكذا عنك [ أو هكذا ] فإنما الاستئذان من النظر
