Hadith 17:958
Ghundar narrated to us, from Shu'bah, from Mansur, from Ibrahim, from Hammam ibn al-Harith, that a man began to praise Uthman. Al-Miqdad stood up and knelt on his knees—and he was a large man—and he began to throw pebbles into his face. Uthman said to him, "What is the matter with you?" He replied, "The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'If you see the praisers, throw dust into their faces.'"
حدثنا غندر عن شعبة عن منصور عن إبراهيم عن همام بن الحارث أن رجلا جعل يمدح عثمان فعمد المقداد فجثا على ركبتيه قال وكان رجلا ضخما قال فجعل يحثو في وجهه الحصى فقال له عثمان ما شأنك قال قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم إذا رأيتم المداحين فاحثوا في وجوههم التراب
