Ibn Numayr narrated to us, from Sufyan, from al-Aswad ibn Qays, from Abdullah ibn al-Harith al-Khuza'i, who said: I heard Umar ibn al-Khattab saying in his sermon: "I saw last night a rooster that pecked me, and I saw people keeping it away from me." He did not remain [alive] but a little while until Abu Lu'lu'ah, the slave of al-Mughirah, killed him.
