Hadith 4:210
Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us, from Hajjaj, from Adi ibn Thabit, who said: We differed regarding the dawn. So we came to Ibrahim and he said: The dawn is two dawns. As for one of them, it is the radiant dawn (al-fajr al-sati'), so it does not make prayer permissible, nor does it make food forbidden. As for the horizontal red dawn (al-fajr al-mu'tarid al-ahmar), it makes prayer permissible and makes food and drink forbidden.
حدثنا يزيد بن هارون عن حجاج عن عدي بن ثابت قال اختلفنا في الفجر فأتينا إبراهيم فقال الفجر فجران فأما احدهما فالفجر الساطع فلا يحل الصلاة ولا يحرم الطعام وأما الفجر المعترض الأحمر فإنه يحل الصلاة ويحرم الطعام والشراب
