Hadith 4:486
Ibn Fudayl narrated to us, from Husayn, from al-Sha’bi, from Muhammad ibn Sayfi, who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said to us on the day of Ashura, "Has anyone among you eaten today?" We said, "Among us are those who have eaten, and among us are those who have not eaten." He said, "Complete the remainder of your day, both those who have eaten and those who have not eaten. And send word to the people of the outskirts (al-‘arud) so that they may complete the remainder of their day." He meant by the people of the outskirts, those around Medina.
حدثنا بن فضيل عن حصين عن الشعبي عن محمد بن صيفي قال قال لنا رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يوم عاشوراء أمنكم أحد طعم اليوم فقلنا منا من طعم ومنا من لم يطعم قال فقال أتموا بقية يومكم من كان طعم ومن لم يطعم وأرسلوا إلى أهل العروض فليتموا بقية يومهم يعني أهل العروض من حول المدينة
